FAQ
What is the downtime? Can I return to work after my treatment?

It’s normal to experience some redness, swelling, bruising, or soreness immediately after the procedure. These effects are typically mild and shouldn’t prevent you from going back to work. If you’re concerned about social downtime, consider scheduling your appointment around your work or social commitments.
When will I see results?

Results are visible immediately after your treatment.
How long do results last?

The duration of results varies based on the product used, the treatment area, and individual factors. Most fillers last between 6–12 months.
What is the best lip filler?

The ideal filler depends on your natural lip shape, structure, and your desired results. A skilled medical provider will work with you to understand your concerns and goals, ensuring the best product and outcome for you.
What happens if I don’t get fillers every 6–12 months?

If you choose not to maintain your filler treatments, your skin will gradually return to its pre-treatment state over time.
Does it hurt?

To minimize discomfort, a topical numbing cream may be applied before treatment. Additionally, many fillers, like Juvederm and RHA, contain lidocaine, which helps reduce pain during the procedure.
Are there any other side effects I should be aware of?

Common side effects include mild bruising, swelling (edema), and redness (erythema) at the injection sites. Applying ice after the procedure can help reduce swelling, and following pre-treatment guidelines, such as avoiding blood-thinning agents, can minimize bruising.
Will my face look unnatural or overdone?

When administered by an experienced provider, fillers can achieve subtle, natural-looking results. Your enhanced appearance will likely be noticeable to others as a refreshed look, though they may not pinpoint the exact cause.
Can I get fillers if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

Filler treatments are not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Pre-Treatment Guidelines
Plan your appointment at least two weeks ahead of any special event to allow time for potential redness, swelling, or bruising to subside. Avoid dental cleanings for two weeks and dental procedures for four weeks prior to your filler treatment to minimize risks.
To reduce the likelihood of bruising or bleeding, we recommend discontinuing the use of aspirin, NSAIDs, gingko biloba, garlic, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, flax oil, cod liver oil, vitamin A, vitamin E, or other essential fatty acids for 3–7 days before and after your treatment. Be sure to consult your primary physician before stopping any prescribed medications.
Avoid alcohol, caffeine, niacin supplements, and smoking 24–48 hours before and after your procedure, as these can increase the risk of bruising and swelling. Starting arnica or bromelain supplements two days prior to treatment may help minimize bruising.
If you have a history of cold sores, let your provider know in advance, as they may prescribe an antiviral to prevent an outbreak. Ensure the treatment area is free of active infections or rashes, and note that fillers should not be administered during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
Post-Treatment Guidelines
It’s normal to experience some redness or sensitivity in the treated area, which typically subsides within a few hours. Bruising may occur, lasting several days and appearing as bluish or purplish discoloration. If you notice any unusual paleness in the treated area, contact your provider immediately.
For any soreness, Tylenol can be used as needed. Avoid touching, massaging, or moving the treated area unless specifically directed by your provider.
Refrain from applying makeup for 24 hours and avoid strenuous exercise during this time. Steer clear of excessive sun exposure or heat, such as saunas or tanning beds, for at least 72 hours post-treatment.
If swelling occurs, your provider may recommend applying a cool compress for 15 minutes each hour. Taking an antihistamine may also help reduce swelling if needed. Sleeping on your back with your head slightly elevated can further support the healing process.
To ensure optimal results, wait at least two weeks before undergoing any additional facial treatments, such as facials, massages, lasers, ultrasounds, or microdermabrasion. Additionally, delay any dental procedures for a minimum of two weeks after treatment.
